Course Description: The anterior mandible, specifically the mandibular incisors, are the teeth most commonly affected by gingival recession. Diagnosis and treatment planning can be challenging in this area because several factors influence health and stability.
Dental hygienists play a role in identifying recession, encouraging patients to follow through with a referral, and maintaining health following treatment. This one-hour webinar will extend understanding of how to evaluate recession, identify when referral is indicated, consider what is possible with soft tissue grafting procedures, and determine the most effective way to promote stability with maintenance and patient education. Originally broadcast on Friday, April 24, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
Educational Objectives:
• Consider why the anterior mandible is most commonly affected by recession.
• Review how to evaluate recession and how to identify when a patient can benefit from referral.
• Discover what treatment options are available and what the goals of treatment are to better understand and communicate expectations.
• Discuss tips and tricks for promoting health and stability through maintenance and home care.
